The New York Times Co. climbed 2.7 percent and Gannett Co.rallied 2.8 percent following news that the Internet company AOLInc. is buying the Huffington Post for $315 million. AOL isinvesting in online content to help revive growth in advertisingrevenue. The deal is "shining light on the value of thesecompanies," said Douglas Arthur, an analyst at Evercore Partners,referring to the Times Co., which owns The Boston Globe and otherproperties, and Gannett. AOL fell 3.4 percent.
